Greetings, family! In this profession, the beauty industry, I’m coined by the title “Lentzkutz.” Deriving from my birth name “Wherlentz,” I aimed to be intentional with building my respective brand on my core identity.

Why barbering, you may ask? Well, circa the end of the year 2022, this dawning question was simply non-existent. While some beauty professionals are given birth to by their upbringing- having had family or friends of sort who either dabble, or excel at the craft, that was not the case for me.

In fact, the first traces of barbering possibilities originated from my fathers encouragement to us teenage boys- my brother and I, to learn the skill of cutting hair so that we could tend to one another’s grooming needs. Needless to say, we paid him no mind. 

Fast forward to mid- 2022, a period in time where as a young-man, I yearned to find purpose in life; to be passionate, competent, and serving of others through a respective outlet. While time stood still in that pursuit, in the enjoyment of social media; Instagram to be specific, I discovered an excitement and satisfaction of watching other professional barbers display their craft- its process, and the touching change it brought to those they served.

In a meticulously God planned vision, the puzzle pieces would fall together, where I would embark on my barbering journey. With a bit of YouTube binge watching of barbering content , and the guidance that came from having expressed my desire for the craft to the right people, in less than six-months time, I was already taking a leap of faith to acquire the necessary tools and prepped a studio space at home where I stayed with my parents to get started. 

As the marathon continues, I like say, I continue to enjoy the journey in whatsoever form it comes in. I most certainly enjoy being able to accommodate my clients, who have become family, by satisfying the requested grooming services and then some. Oftentimes, an act of service that always leave my clients appalled, is a blended cut, outlined by a sharp hairline, accompanied by a hot-towel, followed by a relaxing massage. The reaction at the end, although expressed in many a word, always summarizes to “Wow, this for me is a nouvel experience; I fell asleep there for a second, I will certainly be coming back!”
In today’s time, the statistic might prove that theirs an accessible barbershop every so couple blocks. But in your search for a barber; a skillful professional, friend, listener- someone who cares, it is imperative that access doesn’t equal entry. If you were looking for the few good apples in the bunch, you my friend have found, #lentzkutz and need not looking any further.

Who am I outside of my craft, you may ask? Well, I am a child of God, a son, a servant, an extrovert at heart- people person. I enjoy taking life at its helm, being intentional to experience it. I enjoy reflecting, gymming, watching a good movie, spending quality time with loved ones, traveling, I share a love-hate relationship with reading, and all-in-all, I like to do things that challenge, transform, and shape me as I grow in years.
